The 15th day of the 5th Tibetan Lunar Month is traditionally celebrated as Zamling Chisang or Universal Prayer Day to commemorate Guru Rinpoche’s subjugation of the local spirits and demonic forces as well as the founding of the Samye Monastery.
On this day, monks of our monastery would perform special prayers and rituals invoking the general body of protectors, and particularly those who are bound by oath to protect Sera Mey Monastery. The main protector of Sera Mey are Chamsing and Thawo.
Monks of our monastery perform special ritual prayer by reciting confession and black tea offering prayers for dharma protectors “Gonpo” Mahakaala “Palden Lhamo” the goddess of terrific aspects famous for her bloody and licentious deeds, “Choegyal” Dharma Raza, “Gonkar” and “Namse” the wealth dieties. “Chamsing” a terrific female guardian deity and “Thao” one of the main protector of our monastery.
