On the 29th of the twelfth Tibetan lunar month, a special ritual to pacify the obstacles from the past and to pave way for the success of the upcoming new year is held for several days. This ritual is associated mainly with the monastery’s protector Thawo Choegyal Chenmo. Several days of intensive prayers are done before concluding the ritual by means of throwing ritual cakes and burning of an effigy.
