scholarshipIn Tibet - prior to 1959 - Sera Mey had an incentive fund that helped many poor monks in their difficult years of intensive study. However, due to Tibet’s occupation by P.R.C, this could not be continued in exile as the monastery itself remained financially poor for many years. In 2003, it was revived by the late His Eminence Kyabje Khensur Rinpoche Jetsun Ngawang Thekchok, a highly respected ex-abbot of Sera-Mey. Inspired by his insightful advice, Mr.Lin and his family from Taiwan had very generously sponsored the initial capital of the students’ incentive fund. However, the whole capital was lost due to the bankruptcy faced by local businessmen under whose care the capital was kept as loan in the hope of getting some interests. In 2008, Khensur Rinpoche again went to Taiwan and requested the help of Mr.Lin and Family. The family has been extremely helpful and the monastery remains forever indebted to them.
